Market Holidays?

Howdy Folks.

BabyPips.com kicks A$$.

I was wondering if anyone knew of all the days the spot foreign exchange markets are closed?

Would a broker be able to supply that info?

Also, would say ODL Securities have different holiday closures from say FXCM?

Thanks for the input guys.

Why should the brokers close for the US Fourth of July holiday on Friday?

I am sure they want to be open because all of the traders will be giving away free money!

The big money will not be trading on the holiday and you should not either in my humble opinion.

If you just feel the need to make a donation, paypal me please! I will put the money to good use in my own trading account.

All advice offered in good humor.

Happy pipping.

Also. If you absolutely have to trade:

Trade the london session where there is no holiday and with non-farm payrolls coming out the day prior, there may be some volatility.

Cheers.

There are only two days I can think of where basically the whole world is closed. That’s New Years Day and Christmas. Beyond that it’s all regional. Where your broker is based will generally dictate which holidays it takes, and when “weekend spreads” are in effect or whatever, so you definitely want to check for specifics with yours.

Thanks guys. I appreciate your insight.

It seems as though the bottom line is that this is a true 24/5 market with closures only on new years and christmas.

All other holidays are just regular trading days marked by liquidity issues, correct?
