For trader most important is balance between risk and profit.
My opinion is, that looking only on one side can give results only in short term. If maximizing profit means increasing risk, well you’ll be caught by the “risk credit” you took 
If you reduce risk to zero, you will end up with only treasury notes in portfolio

Managing risk. i.e. keeping it at or below the maximum set out in the strategy. Over a long-term period therefore profits will outweigh losses.

Both are correlated to each other, but I’d say managing your risk to minimum to avoid the losses.
