Can someone tell me that buying Metastock application is any good? Is there any technical analysis application better than this Metastock? could you compare it and tell me why?

I used Metastock a long time ago when I first started trading Forex. With it I found some interesting things, but I went to upgrade later and it had become really expensive. Unless one has a quarter million or so then the cost of the live platform and data represent a large percentage of trading funds, more than I can risk anyway.

Is there any cheaper application with similar possibilities? or free stuff that offered by demo platforms of some brokers?
If I use free demo product in demo platforms of broker, does they have same functionality of live? do the live data exactly same as live or it can be fake live data or with latency?
