Mobile Trading on a Blackberry

Hi: I got myself all set up with a brokerage account that said they support mobile trading. Um, I guess not on a Blackberry or an IPhone. Hmmm, isn’t that about 99% of the users out there? I’m using mt4 and I’d like to be able to trade over my Blackberry. Anyone have any ideas how I might be able to accomplish this? Is there some sort of work around that I could do?

Thanks,
Joy

I’m not sure about blackberry’s but with my iPhone I know of an application that you can purchase from the app store called Forex On the Go. It has charting, indicators, and links with an existing MT4 account with various brokers. It’s worth a look if the iPhone is what you have. It’s $50 in the app store so I didn’t purchase it.

Instead I’ve set up a server at home which is on 24/7 (VPS). I have set it up to accept remote desktop connections so I can access the box from anywhere with an internet connection and control the computer. Theres an app for the iphone that lets me connect with remote desktop so I just use that, connect to the computer, and view trades, place trades as if I was actually on the computer. That app I’m using for the connection is called Jaadu RDP.

Both options work well. I’m working on a how-to for setting up a home VPS for the average user so that will be out soon.

EDIT: Did some googling for you. MT4 mobile is available for windows mobile phones from certain brokers. Alpari UK and Forex.com are ones to check out.

I really appreciate the time you took to google and respond to my request. Unfortunately, I’m using a Blackberry, so I Phone apps won’t work for me. Also, the Blackberry doesn’t use windows mobile so those programs won’t work. It’s frustrating. I added internet to my phone strictly to be able to do trades when I’m not at home. I don’t want to feel like I’m tethered to my computer to make trades. :frowning: I also don’t really want to have a computer running 24/7 in my house. There’s some much vulnerability that way. I’m not even sure if I want to run a bot because of the exposure for hacking. But, that’s a entirely different topic. I’m wondering if there are any Blackberry users that have figured out how to work around all of this fun.

I address the security issue in the how to by use of a VPN connection but that’s a different thing.

Anywho I hope there is someone that has a solution for you! I’d actually switched from a blackberry bold to the iphone for this issue and the apps that I use now solve the problem for me.

if you trade with oanda they offer a mobile platform, i use it with both my G1 and samsung pixon. they are also in my opinion by far the best broker for retail traders like ourselves, be sure to check them out

Looks interesting. I’ll test this out. I assume basic charting functions are there?

EDIT: Just talked to Oanda’s live help:

OANDA: Thank you for choosing OANDA. How may I help you?
Alim: Hi there. Does FXTrade mobile have charting functions?
OANDA: Unfortunately no.
OANDA: There is no chart available on FXTrade/FXGame mobile.
Alim: Is there development that may add this in the future or will it be stricly price quotes?
OANDA: I haven’t heard any development plan on that at the moment.

:frowning:

assuming your mobile lets you open multiple windows, use Live Charts UK - Free live trading charts, historical data, spreadbetting and daytrading information. alongside oanda’s mobile platform and your good to go
