Moving from Day Trading to Swing Trading (moving average crossover changes)

Hi all,

I’ve recently been having some fairly good success day trading the hourly charts on demo using a moving average crossover strategy:
EMA 5 (applied to close)
EMA 10 (applied to close)
Signal for buy/sell when the 5 crosses the 10

When a signal occurs i would then look for confirmation with the following 3 indicators:
RSI 10 (applied to median price (HL/2))
MACD (5,9,4)
Stochastic (14,3,3)

For extra confirmation i would also look at the general trend on say the daily chart and also establish if there are any large support/resistance lines

If everything checks out for a valid trade i’d drop down to say the 30min and 15min charts to execute my trade when the market is going in the direction of my trade.

I’m quite comfortable that the above setup works but going forward i’d like to adapt it to use on daily charts for swing trading as i won’t be able to really look at charts during business hours (UK).

Can anyone recommend how i could amend my parameters or provide suggestions?

Good idea.

Generally, any strategy that is done using the Daily Charts has a greater chance of giving larger gains. My strategy is different in that I use Candlestick patterns only in trading the Daily and 4H Charts, so I cant give you much advice on indicators. I actually think they are unnecessary based on my trading results using Price Action over the years.

Perhaps you could wait for the signals from your indicators on the Daily Chart and then go down to the 4H Chart to then execute your trades.

Good luck
