I have an issue with MT4 and I hope there’s a simple solution. I have horizontal lines show up and disappear from charts randomly. I will go through the pairs I am interested in and draw lines, then if/when I go back to review them (sometimes a couple minutes later, sometimes the next day) the lines are moved or deleted. This doesn’t happen on all pairs. Also, when change timeframes I’ll get a plethora of lines that I didn’t add.
I don’t have any EA’s running so what else could be doing this?

I suspect it is MT4 build 600 or 610 that you have, that is the problem.
I have build 610 on a demo account and if I close it down it always defaults to some earlier setup that I used and any recent changes are lost.
Also I have saved templates in build 610 but if I use them the indicators don’t update in realtime???
I write my own EA’s and indicators and in order to update any changes you have to compile the changes. However, compiling a new indicator or new EA also compiles all live trading EA’s of different systems as well reseting all their variables and Magic numbers to the same default values, completely screwing everything up and opening and closing trades. Not funny.
Strangely, indicators in use don’t get re-compiled, which of course they shouldn’t. Neither should the EA’s.
Also if using the Strategy tester, no mater what pair or timeframe I use, the strategy tester say’s I am testing the M30 GBPUSD.
I personally would never trade a live account on build 600 or 610 as it is too flakey. Luckily, I am still trading on build 509 as I have a UPS on my trading PC so I don’t suffer from power cuts and don’t allow updates from Microsoft or MT4. How long I can maintain this I don’t know.
If trading using EA’s you can’t shut down your PC or close MT4 so this has saved me from later updates.
