I am trying to find a good non expiring demo feed for MT4. I have been using ODL but got an email in mt4 yesterday saying they now expire after 90 days. and by AMAZING coincidence it can hardly stay connected for more than 5 mins at a time now (my account is only 30 days old anyway but its still an amazing coincidence that it was perfectly fine before that email).
I have an alpari UK feed and a strategybuilder fx feed. SBFX uses pip fractions which irritates me and also doesnt use GMT which screws with my indicator, Alpari by coincidence again seems not very reliable and suddenly disconnects almost as much as ODL.
You can email ODL and they’ll extend the demo for you. They are just sparing themselves of server space for people that open up tons of demo accounts and just let them sit. Simple house keeping and cutting costs if you ask me.
But if you reach out to them, they’ll look out for you. ODL is a solid company.
that may be so, but ive been getting disconnected every few mins for a couple of days which cant be due to expiry since the account still works and is only a month old.
adsl2+, no wireless. and its ODL disconnecting, not my net connection.
i deleted the email i got on my mt4 so i cant find the email address of the guy that sent it to request they keep the demo open. anyone still got that email in MT4? i noticed it as it was a specific persons email not a generic company one.
I would suggest to send an email to all those brokers who provide the Metatrader Demo ( ODL, Alpari and ActivTrades) and ask them to provide you with a demo that does not expire…wait and see they might offer you this.
We only had one cable internet connection to my desktop, and the rest of our computers have a wireless connection to it. However, my son, who is a “gamer” and was wireless too on his desktop, experienced that the signal kept dropping so now he’s hardwired to his own connection. Doesn’t seem to be your problem, but that’s what troubleshooting is all about.
I’m using MT4 & Interbank FX (IBFX) and although it does disconnect occassionally (which I’m not sure is the wireless or them), it’s pretty good otherwise and doesn’t expire.
Yes, in their demo accounts it only offers currencies… not sure about live accounts though.
For demo accounts only, you could look at FX Pro as they claim to have 140 “instruments” to trade. I say demo only because North Finance is directing their customers to them (non expiring too), and basically I don’t feel comfortable in trusting them since they seem to be outside the regulated safety net.
