MT4, Oanda advice? NOOB Qs

Hello smart people, I am new to forex trading, I started out using Etoro but everyone seems to not recommend it so I have set up an Oanda account as they seem to be a good choice. But I keep hearing everyone chatting about using MT4 in conjunction with Oanada. What is the reason for this> Do you use MT4 for chatting trades and then place the order with Oanda? And is MT4 not a trading platform by itself? If it is why would I need to also use Oanda? Any help or thoughts welcome, Except negative ones cause who needs those. Cheers all.

MT4 is a trading platform by itself, however if you want to use it with Oanda you’ll need to setup a special MT4 enabled trading account with Oanda, otherwise you’ll have to use Oanda’s native platform, which is not bad by itself either, but many people prefer MT4 for it’s charting functionality.

MT4 is also a widely used platform in the business as many brokers offer it, so people who have used MT4 before would like to continue using it as they’re familiar with the platform already.

Cheers for that, So is there any real point for me to get Oanda or as a noob would it be easier to just use MT4 for all functions as the charts on MT4 seem to be more in-depth than Oandas? Cheers for the speedy reply also.

MT4 is a more feature rich charting than Oanda’s java platform (oanda does have mt4 available now) What I like about their java platform is that you can enter an order and then you can put a take profit or stop loss with a simple click and you can move them easily just by dragging the line on the screen. To do that on metatrader you have to have add on software.

I use both the MT4 and java on the demo account. The way you can move the SL/TP on the java is one of the reasons I stick with the java platform. OP… just open a demo account in both platforms and see what one works best for you.

I would recommend installing a client since you PC usually froze for unknown reasons. Start with a demo account and progress from there.
