My last MT4 question!

Gents, I’ve tried help topics and youtube tutorials, I,m not being completely lazy but…

I want to set multiple EMAs but can only find SMAs where are they hiding?

I know how to calculate pivots points (round of applause) but when I watched ICTs video on Fibs and Pivots he went insert-indicators-custom, and Pivot Points was an option (this is where my simple MAs are as well but no EMA option) but neither seems avaliable to me.

As usual I’m sure it’s staring me in the face but lil’ help please.

When you double click “moving average” under the indicators list, a windows will pop out. Under MA method, there is a drop down menu that lets you select simple, exp or smooth moving averages for your chart. Hope this helps.

Thank you Sir,

Selecting MAs brings up “Custom-Indicators- Moving Averages” with options to select MA periods, MA shift and MA method unfortunatly selecting or double clicking MA method isn’t droping down a menu:( But It’s probably operator error and I’ll have a muck about with it for a bit:)

Many thanks

That’s because you’re selecting moving average under custom indicators. Under navigator in MT4, look under indicators and select that moving average. It should present you with the option.

Instead of going indicators > custom > moving average, go:

indicators > trend > moving average

You’ll see your MA Method drop-down box there.

EDIT: or do what ^he^ said!

Oh yes the pivot point one…

The indicator isn’t in MT4, but you can easily pick one up free off the web. Google ‘pivot point indicator MT4’ and you’ll get some options that people have posted on various forums etc.

You need to download it, extract it (usually) then put the indicator in the experts > indicators folder within the MT4 program folder (it’s in the Program Files folder on your hard drive). Then restart MT4 and it’s there in the Indicators > Custom drop-down.

Worth trying a few and seeing which suits you best.

Eureka,

Thanks very much.

Ah I was trying to learn to import EAs yesterday so I might be able to do this, my IT skills are…questionable.

Thanks very much Dave for taking the time to help.
