Automated means that you let your PC trade in your stead, based on a trade strategy that you wrote.

It is very important to understand what the EA is doing and how to manage the risk because just like wish discretionary trading we always focus on what we can lose not what we can make. This is very important.
Once you have established this you need to gain an understanding of the EA itself or at least a vague understanding of it.
