Need computer help about rouge viruses I think are comming from this site

Bob, try using FireFox as a browser, with AdBlockPlus as a plugin.

There are never any pop-ups on my screen, and so no virii can be installed.

I do use firefox. and purplepatch I dont watch those videos on that laptop the screens to small

I have had to clean infected computers and one was so bad that it would not let the antivirus software run or do any updates. I had to boot it into safe mode to run the antivirus. I use AVG paid version and don’t have any complaints. I also recommend a scan with Malwarebytes.

I worked at Best Buy, geek squad, while I was in college. When people brought their infected PCs in for us to clean up we found that the majority of them were infected because the frequent porn sites. Seriously, I can only remember a handful of computers that didn’t have a viruses that were caused from porn sites! If you plan on frequenting those site practice safe safe sex and use a premium AV software.

Thats what I did. I booted it in safe mode. Used a different computer to google the virus and followed the steps to remove it. I do it the same way the last few time and it worked. All of them were removed by downloading the RKILL program made by bleeping computer.com only this time I dont think it worked. I will Try again tonight. The computer seems to be ok but the avast keeps teeiling me I am being attacked by malware and it was blocked but I dont think its gone due to the fact of how often its doing it.

Something that really helps not getting infected is to keep Flash and Java updated… do not install any video codecs (porn sites) from the net unless you know they are clean…

Use virustotal to check any files you download… is a multiscanner… great tool

In my machine I also have Hitman (Free) for on-demand scanning.

The best antivirus is “common sense” , do not click on everything or download unknown software

Dont hit Freshpips at the bottom, I just did and got attacked, but my Norton caught it, and adobe tryed to update, went thru cntl-alt-delete and closed the process.

From this point on, Im no longer going to be at this place.

How the hell does babypips not know this?

Well I just had to click on Fresh Pips. You know what happens when someone says “don’t do something”, you just have to give it a try. All fine with me, also have Kaspersky Lab running as security, not even a glitch…as of yet.

LMAO I know how that goes when someone say dont do it I have to do it

Had to hit Fresh Pips too.

Nothing… Not even heavy breathing.

Smell this milk… Does it smell bad?

I beg to differ, I’ve run Avast for about ten years now and never had a virus infection. Avast has stopped everything.

Microsoft Security Essentials score lower when they test Avast, MSE and other antivirus software.

If you so hate Avast I’d have a look at either Comodo, or AVG.

Ok virus is gone. My borker did it. Took them 4 hours b. ut its gone. I figured they would be pissed if my account and trading platform went bye bye from and would have something to say. Its gone but the end issue did not come from babypips it came from a email utube video. The virus just happened to take affect on here. I am quick to call BS on vids I watch and come back here. Does piss me off about avast due to the fact they tried to clean my computer and failed but my broker could when its not there job.

Also picked up “live security platinum” from this website a well…some how…the program dug its claws in deep but was removed by booting up in safemode and using malwarebytes.

Nasty thing.

Word of advise… don’t open up links in email unless it is an expected email. Example, a site registrations verification link from a site you just sign up for. You probably had to do this for Babypips. Also you can mouse over a link to obtain information about it’s destination. A lot of times it is obvious if you know what to look for.

Here is an example:

[ol]
[li]Sender says they are from Paypal but has yahoo address
[/li][li]Mouse-over link will show a different Website than intended
[/li][li]Right click anywhere in the body of the email and click “view source”, results shown
[/li][/ol]

I know this is a few days old but might help you stay virus free a bit longer.

Cheers.

Now that you have a clean, uninfected pc, make an image backup. A program like Acronis is great for this, that way if anything happens in the future you can quickly restore. If I ever get a bad enough virus, usually a re-format and fresh install is the best way to go - but by restoring a clean image backup, you can back in business in under 10 minutes, and you don’t have to reinstall all your apps. If you can afford it, buy a spare pc or laptop to do your shady browsing on… or use vmware, it will save you a lot of grief in the future.

Ditto… same thing happened to me on the 15th of July when I clicked a link here. Horrid time removing it. And yes for the record I had MS Security essentials…which did not even get to know that " Live Security Platinum" had planted itself on my computer.

The problem with ANY AV program detecting something like Live Security Platinum, is the fact that it has code that initiates a name change every day or so. Therefore, any AV program looking for a static name like LSP.exe is only responding to a past version, not the current one. It might now be LSQ.exe, or any other random generating name it morphs to, and your AV is out of date, because it’s looking for the wrong names.

And I’ll say this again. If you’re quick enough, you can get out of the situation without it installing on your computer by closing your browser from another source. When those things pop up, anything on your browser screen is the “yes” button to install the malware.

What you do is avoid touching any active, and now toxic buttons on your browser, and hit Ctrl+Alt+Del at the same time. That will bring up Windows task manager. On the first tab called “Applications”, highlight your open browser by right clicking, and then use the “End Task” option that shows up in the little tool menu that opens when you right click.

That will close your browser from an entirely different point in your system, and the malware can’t install itself.

Give your computer a few minutes, then reopen your browser. If there are options, just choose the one that starts a new session.

That little trick will save you a lot of hassle:)

Before you read the post, I would like to introduce myself. I have been surfing this forum randomly for a year, but finally decided to join, start posting, and trading.

I recently got the same “Live Security Platinum” virus as well. It’s a pain, not sure from where, I don’t really surf the web, other than Gmail, Facebook, my trading account and this website.

But for future reference for anyone dealing with it, you can get rid of it, even without a pro anti-virus program. What I did now, and usually do is this:

 1. Go to safe mode-If it doesn’t let you open msconfig, restart and open msconfig right after it boots up again
 2. Run Malwarebytes. A lot of times programs like Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials seem to work better in regular mode, but you obviously will have a tough time doing that when your computer is infected. Thus if you can’t find anything, then your virus is still there and you have to get it.
 3. Do a system restore
 4. Most of the time you can easily run a scan, without virus popping up.
 5. Run Malwarebytes
 6. Run Microsoft Security Essentials
 7. Back up your info using a external hard drive and Paragon (free backup software).

Read the whole thread.

You don’t even need to get the virus in the first place;)

And it comes from emails for the most part. A friend’s email addy may get infected, not with the virus itself, because it’s not a virus in the first place, which is another reason AV programs can’t find it easily, but from a little thing called a dialer. It makes ET call home when the email is opened from a legitimate new address, then bam, the pop up hits you screen.

These guys are crafty in the way they write these things now. They know that email scanning is done by almost every AV program out there, so they avoid that by now using popups.

My two cents here. I think you should seriously review your security setup. And I’m telling this from:

fighting these “good boys” for a long time now.

Your protection should include:

first- a good Firewall (windows’ one is not very strong)

second- a good AV that not conflicts with the Firewall
third- a good Anti spyware/malware that not conflicts with the other two

The easy yet effective way is to have a suite. My personal recommendation: Outpost Security Suite Outpost Internet Security Suite: All-in-One Protection or AVG Internet Security Internet Security 2012 | Complete Virus Protection | AVG Worldwide

Very important, ANY other protection program must be uninstalled first and computer cleaned. Even is necessary to check after installation that Windows Firewall and Windows Defender are DEACTIVATED to prevent conflicts.

Hope this help you somehow too.

You can also try this Russian stuff: Dr.Web CureIt! — download free anti-virus! Cure viruses, Best free anti-virus scanner! it’s FREE and you don’t need to install it in your PC

Best regards
