Hi everyone,
I’m new to the forum but not new to trading — I’ve been at it for a few years, mostly around MT5, Expert Advisors and backtesting. Lately I’ve gone pretty deep into the validation side: how to tell whether a backtest is a real edge or just curve-fitting — in-sample vs out-of-sample, profit concentration, whether a couple of lucky trades carry the whole result, that kind of thing.
Honestly I’ve learned most of it the hard way — killing my own strategies with rigorous testing before they killed my account
I’m here to learn from people with more experience, but also to give back where I can, especially on the backtesting / red-flags side. If anyone ever has a question about reading a Strategy Tester report or spotting an overfit backtest, happy to help.
Looking forward to being part of the community.
