Newbie Advice

Hello traders,

My name’s Roy, i’m 19 years old and live in the Netherlands.
Currently i’m finishing my study (marketing and communication) and i’m not sure what I want to do after this. I’ve been reading alot about forex trading lately and i’m finding it very interesting. I believe that it’s the right time to start now even though I know nothing about it. I’m still living with my parents and my income is decent for someone studying. I have nothing to worry about, i’m not in a serious relationship and I have the choice to take another boring study or start applying for a real job. My plan is to save up some money for forex tradingand in the meanwhile study the ins and outs. But I have no idea where to start…

Could anyone give me a hand in the right direction and show me some nice articles or books that I can start reading?

Thanks!

Well the best place to start is always learning through web and books. i recommend babypips school for starters. (as its the most organised resource i know of when starting. and then try some books. i recommend Van Tharp’s books; Alexander Elder; Mark Douglas: trading in the zone. for psychology

ask me more if you like let me know if you wanna chat.

I recommend books that have trader interviews like Stock Market Wizards and Hedge Fund Wizards. They’ll set the proper expectations of what it means being in the business, and starting with the right expectations helps avoid psychological pitfalls.

You are already in The right place , just follow the school in babypips.com
it will really help you even to be a successful trader as a Novice… Good luck

I liked the “for dummies” books when I started learning about forex trading and even candlesticks, but most of the information there can also be found in the School of Pipsology here: School of Pipsology | Learn Forex Trading

I think you can start right here in order to get some basic knowledge in. Just take your time and don’t rush into trading. It will be a step-by-step process. Once you start learning here and if you have questions you can always ask and I am sure you will get answers which will allow you to decide what works for you.

Thanks everyone!

In addition, I think you should get a demo account. A demo is a useful practice tool. It will help you to practice what you are learning without actually spending a single penny. The school of babypips has a lot to offer, which requires your keen interest. You can get a demo account from any broker, it does not matter which one. I got my first Demo account from profiforex back then. With a demo account you can learn how to watch the market, read charts, open/close trades and how to apply EA’s.
