Newbie forex trader, oldie analyst

Hello, Amro here. Happy to find this forum. Been a chart analyst for 22 years in three continents mostly stocks and indices. Done some trading but mostly focused on writing reports. Decided to do more trading and less writting. Not sure why i didnt start earlier. Good to be here. Still need more info about forex brokers and low commissions. I m paying $5 per lot for currencies both sides. Read here somewhere fxcm commission is $0.10 per lot two sides. Does anyone here pay $5 per lot both ways? (scalpers?)

Welcome to Babypips, Oceanmen!

If by “lot” you are referring to a trade size of 100k or 100,000 currency units, then FXCM’s commission is $4 per side and $8 round turn for the most popular currency pairs. In addition to the commission, you must also factor in the spread, which can vary from one broker to the next.

On our No Dealing Desk (NDD) forex execution, FXCM offsets each client order one-for-one with the best bid and ask prices we receive from competing liquidity providers without any markups. That means you have access to the same spreads we do. As you can see from this live table, when you factor in both spreads and commissions, FXCM’s pricing is very competitive.

Hello Jason, Thanks for the reply. Yes Indeed, as you mentioned i am referring to 100,000 currency units or a trade size of 100K (1 Lot is 1K to trade with 100 K - Leverage 1:100). The $5 is for instant orders (not market orders which are faster executed) for Market order they charge me $20.

I have tried your demo account and i must say, if this is how it will be like for a live account, then i m very impressed. The trade history is user friendly compared to others and the charts graphics are impressive. What is the minimum for opening an account with FXCM?

The FXCM Trading Station platform is pretty much the most badass platform in fx. It is truly miles ahead of just about anything else. If you are looking to open an account with a minimum deposit, you will probably want to trade microlots (1,000 units of currency) with FXCM. That will increase the granularity of your position sizing. The commission is of course smaller for the 1,000 unit microlot than the 100,000 unit lot (1/100th to be precise).

May the forx be with you.

Hi Oceanmen,

Our account options can vary by region. So that I give you the most accurate information, please tell me your country of residence.

Hello Jason,

I am a Dutch citizen. Originally from Egypt. Living in Indonesia and traveling frequently to Singapore and Dubai. If you have offices in any of those countries please let me know. I would like to meet someone face to face eventually. Let me know how it works for someone living in Indonesia (commissions for micro lots and other info).

Have a great weekend all!
