Sometimes these events change the trend dramatically and suddenly. But sometimes they cause the opposite change to what you expected and sometimes no change at all. And even if you are right, sometimes the change you is weaker than you expected and sometimes it is stronger. This applies even if all the experts in the market correctly predict the nature of the economic news or report.
The future of news is not the future of charts. So why not just watch the charts…

71.23456789% of the time, News follow the immediate momentum of the chart. Everyone like to illustrate themselves as a genius in retrospect.

My opinion is… The impact of major world events would probably cause the biggest impact of currency trends. Then major shifts in one Central Banks policy compared to other causes long term momentum shifts too. But generally speaking the day to day macroeconomic data releases (unless they go wildly against the current trend causing a Central Bank to shift direction) won’t have large impact on daily and weekly trend.

There is no 1 answer to this. Sometimes there is no impact and sometimes there is. Then again, the impact can sometimes be dramatic enough to make long lasting changes, and sometimes they are just a ripple.
