Not trading is usually a great strategy

How often do you trade ? if you are comfortable discussing about it.

Good reasons to not be in trades -

  1. the chart is not giving you your required set-up in which to take an entry signal
  2. your strategy has started to drastically under-perform
  3. the market is showing (or you anticipate) excessive volatility, unpredictable moves and wide spreads

Bad reasons to not be in trades -

  1. you have hit your daily profit target
  2. you have hit your daily loss limit
  3. you have had 3 consecutive losing trades (or 4 or 5 or X)
  4. it is 10:30
  5. you have got back to break-even

No trading means being afraid to trade, which is not the right thing to do.

Or it means you’re smart enough to know WHEN to stay out.
