NY Sunday candles and FX market opening time?

Hiya,

I heard FX market opens at Monday 8:00AM Zew Zealand time. Thats equal to 14:00 Sunday NY time. So in NY chart I should be able to see candles from 14:00 NY time to 16:00 NY time, but I only see candles starts from 16:00 NY time on Sunday. Can someone explain why?

Thnx

I know NY is no longer on Daylight time, so that might be one hour of the two?

The forex market is not centralized. While some banks in New Zealand may begin quoting currency rates at 8 AM their time on Monday, liquidity is still low.

FOREX.com and many other brokers begin the trading week at 5 PM New York time on Sunday which corresponds to 11 AM in New Zealand. Since we end the trading week at 5 PM New York time on Friday, this evenly divides the trading week into five 24-hour trading days.

Hiya @FOREX.com

in your company’s trading platform, in 4H charts, how many candles exist? one or two? assuming second candle is 20:00~00:00 NY time, first candle is a 3 hour candle{based on your explanation above} or it doesn’t exit in your company’s platforms?

Thnx

I see on the internet the NZ stock market only opens at 10am local time. I guess they like to sleep in a bit down there of a morning.
