NYSE Electronic Session?

What is the ‘NYSE Electronic Session’?

The reason that I ask is that I have just heard about it on Bloomberg and I do not know what is being referred to.

Is this session after the close of the NYSE? If so - then how does this impact on my open positions when my dealer closes?

In other words - let’s say I have some open positions on Gold for example. My dealer closes on Friday at the same time as the NYSE. I have Limit Orders to sell at a certain price. What if this ‘NYSE Electronic Session’ is after the close of the NYSE (the trading floor close I assume) and my dealer is closed and my Limits are hit during this ‘Electronic Session’?

Any thoughts?

Regards,

Dale.

Maybe I misunderstand your question, but gold doesn’t trade on the NYSE, so I don’t see what your concern is since NYSE hours have little to do with forex or futures trading hours.

Hello, and thanks for reply.

Sorry - maybe I should just have said ‘Electronic Session’ as was referred to on Bloomberg.

To what would they have been referring?

Regards,

Dale.

An electronic session in any exchange-based market is time outside the normal floor trading day during which only electronic transactions are executed.

You are certainly a man of few words - but to the point.

Thanks for the reply - that is what I thought they were talking about - but wanted to be sure.

Regards,

Dale.
