Oanda's @Market price not accurate? Why is this?

So I’m paper trading on Oanda (EURUSD and USDCAD). Every time I place an order, I notice the price I’m accepted at is always around 10 pips against me. Odd thing is, the candles show that it never hit that price. I look at two minute candles, and the low of a candle might be at 1.3121 but, when I’m shorting, my fill would be at 1.3111. I thought maybe it was the spread commission? But then I look at my activity window and there’s a separate column that shows what the spread commission was on the trade on top of the slippage. What’s up with that? On Oanda’s live spreads, it never shows more than an 8 pip spread, with an average spread around 2-3 pips. But when I’m trading the demo, I’m consistently getting filled around10 pips against where I put my entry.

I sent them an email about it a few days ago but haven’t heard back. Can someone explain why this happens? I thought Oanda was a very good broker. Do you think I should look for a different broker? If so, what would you recommend.

Thanks.

By the way, I’m not trading during a news breakout. Just normal times, normal news.

I think there’s something wrong here - my suspicion is that whereas you quote for example

the actual price was a 5 digit decimal such as 1.1312(1) ? in which case it wiould be the normal “newbie error” of confusing “pips and points”

Can you give us a screenshot please ? and we’ll try to help.

In the upper right corner of the chart is a drop down box with options
Ask, Bid, or Mid. Reload your charts which each of the 3 to see if your stops
are hit. I keep mine on mid, but, mostly sadly, trades execute
And, don’t hold your breath about them responding to you if you only have a demo account.

Before I faced the same issue with Onada. I changed my mind few months ago. You can change your platform. I think it’s the best option for you. See around the top ranking lowest spread broker platforms at topasiafx .com
