Which broker/s offer demo accounts allowing offline order entry and exit practice using historical data on the MT4 platform? The “Strategy Tester” doesn’t allow trade execution management per se. Obviously it would be useful to practice order entries and exits offline anytime and specifically during market close on the weekends. I like MT4 for one, because it can operate offline, unsupported by the Internet, while most other platforms require an Internet connection.
This feature isn’t easy to find, if even available :63:
I remember you asked a few months back about slippage and the best broker, etc. I am assuming you still haven’t found the right broker base on your criteria
Thanks for remembering me. Actually I’ve fallen in love with FOREX BROKER Inc:7: They are straightforward and in the Mediterranean, allowing both scalping and hedging. Being only two years in the business makes them something of a risk, but their no nonsense simplicity and fair support makes them the bomb! I’ve funded a live micro trading account they call Live Gold for practice along with their Platinum Demos for a taste of the big stuff. They don’t have news trading like none farm payroll yet, but that’s fine with me.
Hi Vanessa, So what you want to do, is practice entry and exits on MT4?
Have a look at this, its called LFH Simulator and it works very well… You use it in your strat tester on MT4, by loading it as a Expert advisor… Its cool once you get the hang of it… If you need help, just ask in this thread…
Below is the link, so scrool down to LFH trade Sim, and load it up…
WOW, that’s awesome and fairly idiot poof as well… It doesn’t support multiple orders tho which is important for same chart execution while hedging, but I found a review of HistoryTraining_V3 on HQL4 forum. Apparently it does allow for multiple orders. Any thoughts on this?
The HistTraining_V3 is very good, but the spread for EUR/JPY is 20 pips! Would you have a solution for that?
btw, to make it run the listed instructions mentions the following: “The adviser works with the DLL so it is necessary to allow the DLL in the “Tools” menu, “Options”. Mark the next items: -Allow dll imports -Allow live trading And remove the check mark from the item -Confirm dll function call.”
Go to that link, Hit the first download link, its a zip file, Open the zip, hit the app to load it, then it will be in your scripts…
Start MT4, go to start tester… Once you hit start, drag and drop the script to the chart, it will then say, the app has loaded… Then hit the STOP button… That loads it… Then, hit start again, and you will be propted to adjust the spread of your choice… Then the testing will begin…
You have been a huge help and I do thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I’m having great difficulty understanding this. Your instructions work, but I get no option to change spread. Also it seems to work only with GBP/USD. When you say drag the script to attach it to the chart, do you mean LFH_Trading_Simulator_3 from the “Expert Advisors” menu after turning on “Expert Advisors”?
I was wondering if your broker have an instruction somewhere online on how to operate the EA’s? I will check with them so it will save you some time going back and forth. Also, my broker has a “live chat” where I can asked questions directly to them when I needed an answer right away and they are very helpful…just a thought. Otherwise, good thing our MNVR is been very helpful to you… Sorry, I am not a techy either ( I just know the basic) that is why I traded manually and I like it better since I am still learning how to trade…
Honestly I haven’t thought to ask them. FB doesn’t have any real training, but they do have live chat support and very responsive e-mail and phone help. They know the Internet is chock full of help on every topic known to man, forex included. I actually prefer them focusing on being exacting as they are on what I need from them, low spreads and zero commissions on their Platinum accounts. I sound like a commercial only because I like their vision. Allowing US clients to hedge and scalp, without trading desk manipulation is all important for me personally. What brokerage do you use, may I ask? I looked at Manhattan Beach Trading(MBT) seriously, but steered away from their overly invasive application process due to US overreaching regulations. Other than this, I thought they looked great.
When I think about it, I believe FB will be very attractive to most female investors due to their simple, clean and consistent operation. I can’t believe how easy and straightforward they’ve proven to be!
Yep, I believe you’re absolutely right and with some profits, I’ll begin to look at more convenience. Indeed, I think I’d rather spend a little more to have a programer design exactly what I want. Thing is, I’m thinking about using NINJATRADER for their advanced built in order placement features and huge variety of user help. I find MT4 to be very arcane in how it caters to the brokerage trading desk side of things:58: It’s features are fair, but so incomplete and lagging compared to the current state of the art trading/charting platforms. MT5 seems to be headed further down this losing path:46: What price are we paying for what they call “FREE”?
#1- Start MT4 #2- Go to strat tester #3- Choose LHF as the advisor you want to use, and choose the pair ( ex. E/U ) which I have used. #4- Hit START button , Then after it starts to run the green line, ( Load ) Drag the MT4I-spread controller script to the chart. #5- An alert box should pop up on your screen, #6- Hit OK, then Hit Stop, and then hit start again, another box will pop up where you adjust the spread, hit ok. #7- Once you put in the amount, Hit OK, and the tester will recontinue the loading process, and Vaula!! #8- If you close MT4, you have to reload the MT4i controller script,
Cheers Money, been thinking if trying one of these for a while but never delved too deep. All my back testing has bee. Done through the eyeballs so it’ll be good to use something where I can actually put orders on the system.
ok, I finally got the spread controller in MT4, but it wont bring up its user interface. Perhaps it wont work with Windows 8. I’m a huge critic of this version of Windows. Its fly out menus are buggy :47:
You went far beyond what was expected. I’m gratefully
My Broker is Forex.com (division of GAIN Capital Group, LLC). I have them from the very start. I actually didn’t bother to look anywhere else because I like it right away. I have very good experience about their customer service via “Live Chat”. They also provide live webinar for whatever upcoming big news such as Non-Farm, ECB speech/rate change, etc. Though, I only attended a few of them…
When you say FB (Forex Broker, Inc) is very attractive to most female traders/investors. I wonder if they will be more proactive to catered it to female traders. Though, I would think that they will have to be more “creative” like maybe using a various colorful “sequence” for Stochastics, a use of shiny lip gloss so you can see it better when drawing a line of purple or pink color for Support/Resistance level, for Fibonacci maybe it can stretch to a 4-5 inches tall of a high heel shoes, and don’t forget those candles stick or bar line that looks like a handle of a hand bag lol… What do you think? Do you think it might work?
I hope FB is aware that maybe about 90% are male traders… that is a big chunk of market share than female traders but I don’t mind if they catered it to us as long as they are more creative
