Olympics to influence Cable?

Just wondering, will the Pound be impacted during the Olympic games?

I recall movement on the dollar every time Michael Phelps won a gold medal.

The thing I would worry about is what happens in the UK economy after the Games. Take a look at how things went in China after they hosted in 2008. Big events like this have a way of pulling forward spending on infrastructure, etc.

You’re absolutely right about the cost of the games affecting an economy in the larger sense. Most hosts have been shown to lose money on a large scale.

But wouldn’t you think that the events of 2008, skewed what happened in China after the Olympics a bit?

Will have to keep an eye on the Pound during that period. The games might add a positive sentiment.

Yes, games might be add a positive sentiment. But saying anything about it will be so early.

Well definitely for GBP it will be very different for so many reasons.

One is because of their EGO.

Hosting the Olympics might actually the bad for them than good for them, e.g they over estimated the cost of the Olympics on a larger scale. Who will pay for it? taxpayers once the Olympics over and the true cost of the Olympics come out how will cable fair ?

Lets talk about long run, first U will deviate to the example of Greece. Greece hosted the Olympics on fictionary money(debt) or financial derivatives that posed as money. Well in short run the economy performed well long run which is today their economy is in shambles,

This can be applied to England as well their economy isn’t doing well at all that can be said of 95% of the euro countries but the hosting the Olympics can just be the catalyst for sending it down especially if their revenue expectations are not meet.

Please correct me if I made a mistake or blew something out of proportion.
