I’ve been using alertfx.com quite successfully as a way of alerting me on my mobile phone of EMA crossovers. However, I’m currently trying out a another system that uses Parabolic SAR and specifically, when the Parabolic SAR actually stops and reverses its trendline. alertfx.com does not seem to offer this capability.
Does alertfx offer this capability?
If not, is there another service out there that offers this capability?
If not, does the xtick software package have this capability?
If not, which software package is the most cost effective for specifying this type of alert?
I have never found a service that provides alerts for Parabolic SAR so if you do find one let me know as I am sure that their are many people who would like to use this service.
I do know that at Easy financial/stock chart - [finance/stock chart with full source] you can ‘scan’ any stocks and any of the exchanges using various indicators (including Parabolic SAR) for valid entry signals e.g. when Parabolic SAR has just reversed but you will find that unless you are using easychart or trade with a broker that utilizes easychart as part of their platform the signals will differ between platforms and timezones (like Metatrader for example).
As far as I know you CAN get Metatrader to send you an alert from Parabolic SAR (although this is not a ‘standard’ feature but I seem to remember seeing somewhere that someone had ‘written’ a ‘custom’ Parabolic SAR indicator to achieve this).
Dear people,
especially dpaterso (I wrote you an email yesterday: hope you received it).
I don’t know whether this is the right place, but I came across to this thread with a search…
I am fascinated by dpaterso SAR “science” (it’s more than a system) and I’m trying to catch up with reading the wonderful but VERY long past threads.
I wanted also to start up with demoing on Interbank FX or InstaTrader, BUT: I realized that both the standard built-in and the “Custom” parabolic SAR indicators included in the MT4 delivered platform are BUGGY. See the attached picture. The top chart is from metatrader, whereas the bottom is from one of the numerous free chart services available on the web (you can also compare with yahoo finance). See, in one year, just on the daily USD/JPY, how many wrong signals are delivered by MT4. This would have been a lot of money lost in dpaterso system! And this probably also explain why my EA, backtested on MT4 with the standard indicator, produced so unfriendly results…
Can anybody indicate whether here or anywhere else there is a good-corrected MT4-style pSAR?
Hello and WOW!!! This is ‘a blast from the past’!!!
OK:
As you know I spent MANY months, along with others, trying to ‘make a killing’ using only Parabolic SAR. As I’m sure that you know by now: this ended up in total (costly) disaster for myself and a few others.
As it turns out, however, none of us not then, and not even up until a short time ago, were trading Parabolic SAR CORRECTLY!!!
Contrary to what you may have read / heard / seen / been told: the CORRECT use of Parabolic SAR IS NOT to simply stop and reverse when you get a new signal from Parabolic SAR.
If you are REALLY interested in making money (and trading Parabolic SAR CORRECTLY) then I invite you to this thread:
I promise you faithfully that for the mere cost of ‘the book’ and with a little help from the thread: you WILL make money and GOOD money and CONSISTENTLY.
To answer your post however: what you will PROBABLY find is that even if you calculate Parabolic SAR correctly for each of those charts then BOTH of the Parabolic SAR’s are indeed correct. Unfortunately you, like me, were incorrectly informed as to the use of Parabolic SAR and for this I blame all the websites that do NOT give the correct information about this indicator and every other ‘Help File’ on every other trading platform i.e. ‘the whole story’ behind Parabolic SAR is NOT told and, if you simply just stop and reverse on every signal, you will end up losing money. And that is why whenever I see a post where someone is looking for a ‘Parabolic SAR Alert’ I always (now) ‘jump in’ and make sure that they are aware that simply trading Parabolic SAR when an alert is ‘fired off’ IS going to ‘end up in tears’.
