Standard settings for ichimoku indicator?

It is the date of Armageddon

The Ever Hunkered Down VIPER

On which trading tool? Please answer me.

Used in Ichimoku indicator

the numbers of trading days in a week and a half, a month and two months, in Japan when there was a 6 day trading week

it’s very old, it’s from trading stocks only on daily charts only

this is what Ichimoku indicators were used for when first invented, and that’s the relevance of those numbers

not to do with forex at all, and not to do with anything other than daily charts even for stocks

It does not works with forex???

i didn’t say that

but there would be absolutely no logic in expecting Ichimoku to work for forex trading (or for anything not on daily charts) with the settings asked about here, because the historical origin of those numbers was relevant only to stock trading, when there was a 6 day trading week, and that’s why those numbers were originally used (which was your original question, wasn’t it?)

Does we need to change the settings to work better in forex?

Ichimoku is a widely known indicator and I wouldn’t be surprised to find that just about every trader has tried it at some stage or other - and with various combinations of settings and on various timeframes. The fact that it has not produced a billion billionaires just shows that it does not “work” per se.

All such indicators that are based on formulas using fixed time periods will have good times and bad times for the simple reason that price movements do not move in nice regular sine-wave like motions. The danger is that one tends to curve-fit these types of indicators, trying a range of different settings until we find the ones that fit best to recent price movements. But that does not mean they are going to function the same in the future at all.

Ichimoku can indeed be useful but should not be treated as a mechanical system as such, rather it can be applied as a supportive guide and indication as to what may be happening and may be continuing or otherwise.
