Pip calculator? Not Working?

Hello,
I recently joined a new forex broker and unlike all other brokers I’ve traded with, this one doesn’t provide convenient pip values. So, never having had to figure this out on my own before I did some googling and came across the babypips pip calculator. However, no matter what I enter it returns absurdly wrong values.
Does this tool not work or am I doing something wrong?

I enter the currency pair I’m looking at (AUD/CAD in this case), my account currency (USD), position size (my position size is 0.08 but since it doesn’t accept that…8 is what I entered), and the current ask value of the AUD/CAD pair (1.02670 roughly).
For these entries it returns a pip value of 0.0008. Meaning a 100 pip move would generate a 80 cent change in value. Yeah, sure whatever lol.
Anybody know what the deal is? Or what I’m doing wrong maybe?

B.O.B.

I would suggest just downloading one of the free ones. I use one from Winsite but there are a lot of them out there.

Hello, B.O.B.

The calculator works fine.

I assume in your example you are trading 0.08 standard lots = 8 micro lots = 8,000 units of base currency. If this is correct, then you would enter 8000 (without the comma) as your position size. And don’t forget to enter the current USD/CAD price (for conversion to your USD account currency).

Here’s how it looks (using the AUD/CAD price you mentioned in your post):

The result (0.9681) is the value of 1-pip (for this size position), given in your account currency — in this case, USD.

So, the result is $0.97 (rounded off) per pip.
