hi guys i use multibank mt4 platform, just cant work out if i set a trade up and walk a way and come back later and its already stopted out and closed , how do i no how many pips ive won or lost, i go to acount history and its just one long number , can any one help
thanks
the # of pips you would have won or lost depends where your s/l or t/p is set.
ie. usd/jpy enter long @110.50 s/l set @110.30 if I get stopped out then I have lost 20pips. then the reverse is true for t/p.
May I suggest that you take advantage of the free Babypips school:
It gives a great overview of Forex, including calculating pips and Profit & Loss.
I agree… The School is very informative and it would really help a lot… I am one of the Students in Babypip’s School of Pipsology and I am on the 10th grade now and I am slowly trying to soak in everything that i read… and it’s cool!
sorry guys your getting me wrong , i no about pips ect ive been trading for 3 years, i always have used oanda, which tels you when a trade closes how many pips you have won or lost, all i want to no is on mt4 is there some were i can look to see how many pips , say a managed trade has won or lost when that whole order is closed
I know what you mean guy, I use the IBFX platform and they only show to the far right how much your won/lost. There is no toggle to see howmany pips you’ve won of lost exactly…(as far as I know), so, to fix this easily, if you set a tp and sl, you will be able to calculate it manually how much you’ve won or loss and just learn to keep your own records of pips gained/lost.
You should have all that stuff written down for your own records anyways.
I don’t think MT4 has that feature but, if you’re keeping good records as has been suggested, you could do it automatically in a spreadsheet. That’s what I do.
in mt4 once you enter a trade, open your terminal icon, click on trade, then right click anywhere on that trade. click on profit then click on as points. this will give your profit/loss in pips. lots of luck
Do you really want to trade with MT4? I have it downloaded also, studied it but do not use it. As far as I am concerned, MT4 is yesterday’s charting program and is too obsolete for today’s use.
