My name is David J White, i am from Glasgow in (what should be an independent) Scotland!
I used to play poker full time, but when my son Brody entered the world, i had to cut back
on my grind to help out with being a “stay-at-home dad”. So my wife brings in the big bucks lol…
and i watch the boy, which i love. I grind the pokers as often as i can, but cant get in enough
volume to a) overcome the variance… and b) make any real money. I also coach micro poker
players part-time. Ive had up to 25 students, but at the moment, just 4…which actually suits me
for now.
So i recently was watching a TV programe on the BBC about Trading. It mainly focused on social
trading site “Etorro”. I found it quite interesting that u could just find out who made money consistently,
then you could just copy them with an affordable amount of money. So i joined up, got a demo account
and blindly jumped right into it. I soon realized that just copying other traders was a bit boring and i
wanted to learn how to do this on my own. I started watching videos on youtube and the more i watched,
the more parallels i could see with poker. This could just be what ive been looking for! I mean, to be able
to trade/work whenever you want, for as long as you want is really appealing to me, if im honest.
So i got myself on another site and started trading on MT4 with $100 at 1:500. Now i know this is not
optimum…but tbh, when i do initially deposit, it wont be for much more than that. But here’s the thing…
im not wanting to learn this to get rich! I plan to “micro trade” and build up to say maybe $1-2k over 6 months. Then i would be happy to pull out 10% every few weeks. Continue to grow the Bankroll
and learn as much as i can whilst doing so. Anyone who plays poker, will see the similarities.
I got to hear about baby-pips on twitter. Kept seeing it over and over, so i came in and had a look and
could instantly see this is the frontrunner in trading forums. So here i am, ready to learn. I hope to find
lots of good material and share ideas with others. Hopefully we can all crush the market together!
I’m definitely not a poker pro, but its a big hobby for me and the similarities to poker are one of the things that flagged forex for me. Good luck here and at the tables!
I have just started working as a Tables dealer /Croupier at a local Casino here in South-Africa and I m starting to see similarities in trading and gambling though they differ, I really wanna dig deeper in trading and see what I can find.
