Problem attaching EA's to a Chart

Recently I am experiencing problems to attach EA’s to a chart. Sometimes it attaches and sometimes it does not. On some platforms it attaches and not on others. I do not want to think of it as a random occurence. Maybe there are settings that I am missing.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Anyone who helps me sort this out permanently will be rewarded.

Does the EA exist as MQL source code, or are you attatching an executable ?, If you have the source code try recompiling

It is an ex4 file. I do not have the source code.

I am beginning to think that build 226 is the problem, but I am not sure. It attaches to 225 with no problem.

Its quite often the case that when a new version is released, executables compiled with prior versions can stop working. It seams a bit hit and miss, sometimes its OK, and sometimes there are problems.

IIRC, when a new version is installed via automatic update, MT recompiles everything where source code is available. it might be worth contacting the vendor and requesting a version compiled for 226.

What does the journal & the EA tab say when you have a failed attach?

I’m sorry that I could not reply sooner, but a major undersea cable broke and it seems that the rest of the country’s bandwidth was allocated to the Mafia because of the SWC.

I get no error messages. When I double-click the EA in the panel on the left, the window where I select the settings should pop up, but nothing happens. Strange thing is that it attached on Friday, but not yesterday or today.

Hi there,

Sorry, not sure what level to pitch this at.

When you double click the EA, is there a chart open in your terminal?

Yes there is, and it is the correct one in the case of an EA designed for a certain pair.

I have just looked. It is attached to:
Sigtrader build 225 - 2 demos
FxPro build 225 - 1 demo

but Avafx MT4 is build 226 with my live account and it does not attach to it. I have contacted them and enquired whether the have build 225 available. The response was, “We will get back to you, sir.” So I’m waiting. I just checked my mail and they do not have build 225 available.

I know you said there were no reported errors, but just double check the Experts tab. What does it say when you drag and drop the EA onto a chart. It should acknowledge your action in some way. Generally if there is a problem with the EA, it should provide a de-initialisation code?

Also, its unlikely Avafx will be of much help. If you want to roll back to 225, just delete the Terminal.exe file in your Avafx root directory and then copy one of the Terminal.exe files from Sigtrader or FXpro folder.

Oh, and cancel the Live Update when MT4 starts otherwise it will just update to v226 again.

It worked!! PM me your email address.
