Problem with adding custom indicator

Hi,

I’m using Metatrader 4. When I try to add custom indicators they don’t show up in my platform.

i did the same thing on my work computer (same platform, broker and operating system win7) and it works well, but on my home computer it just isn’t there. This is really frustrating, maybe someone knows what possibly could be the problem?

Metatrader Build 600 is the likely culprit. I am experiencing the same problem. Many custom idicators and templates are not showing up on the MT4 platform, but are located in their respective file folders.

I have tried to install custom indicators on 3 different MT4 platforms today, and it did not work . I tried everything, different indicators to test and find out what is wrong. Nothing worked. I never had this problem before. Concpitacy? Why?

"MetaQuotes has released their latest update for the MetaTrader 4 Terminal, Build 600. As a result of this update any Expert Advisors (EAs) that you may use may have been affected due to the change of language and the location of specific folders.

In order to minimize any disruption to your trading activities we advise you to save your EAs and indicators to the new folder which is located at: (BROKER NAME) MT4 > MQL4 > Experts/Indicators.

The next step is to ensure that your EAs and Indicators maintain compatibility with the new language. To do this you should request the latest version of the source code from your EA provider. However, if you have coded your EA yourself, please follow the steps below:

  1. Launch the (BROKER NAME) MT4
  2. On the main menu navigate to Tools > MetaQuotes Language Editor
  3. In the new window that opened, navigate to View > Navigator
  4. Locate your EA and double click on it to access the EA script
  5. Click on Compile from the toolbar. The action will be confirmed by a message in the Toolbox window at the bottom.
  6. When the process is completed, please close and reopen the (BROKER NAME) MT4. Provided you encountered no errors, you will now be able to continue using your EA normally."

I just tried the solution posted and it worked. All of your old indicators should have been copied over automatically but anything new needs to be added to that new directory. Put your indicators and experts in the path listed above and they well work perfectly.

Hey guys,
there is an easier solution to installing indicator, templates, profiles, and expert advisors to your new 600 build (and above) MT4 platforms.

  1. Open your platform.
  2. Click File (in the upper left corner)
  3. Click Open Data Folder
  4. You will see several folders, place your Profiles into the profiles folder and place your Templates into the templates file folder.
  5. For your expert advisors and your indicators, double-click to open the MQL4 file folder.
  6. Add your EAs into the Experts file folder and add your indicators into the Indicators file folder.
  7. restart your platform, and you are good to go!

This method will allow you to install anything you want, indicators, templates, profiles, and EAs.
