Professional Traders

Hi, hope you guys are getting epic trading gains
Quick Rant with epic trading question… Honestly, I don’t even trust ICT, Raja Banks, or Raynor Teo, no matter how good or trustworthy they may seem. YouTube stars might exist to help me but I just have trouble believing it when 90% of traders are failing and there are hundreds of thousands of people watching their videos.

How do I find other professional traders?

I want to ask someone to mentor me. I want to find someone that is currently not teaching Forex and get their insight. I do not want someone that is already teaching Forex because I know many “mentors” are not really in it to help you, even if it really looks that way. How can I find someone that is already trading and is doing very well? I don’t expect to make a ton of money but I really want to make a good living and be able to travel. A pro trader’s lifestyle sounds amazing. Studying a lot and it’s really a lot to sort through even after my 6 months of studying. Finding someone that might want to help me out would be the most epic thing to happen to me because this is next level epic dream stuff. Thanks!

Side Note: I’m also putting in a lot of work. I’ve gone through babypips, watched several live streams and videosfrom these “mentors” and I have backtested a few strategies 100 times. I’m currently backtesting Raja’s breakout strategy by using Soft4x with MT4

Ooooh. :open_mouth: That is definitely an interesting question. I’m not sure if I’ve seen this talked about around here, but it’s definitely something I’d love to know more about.

I’m not, by any means, a professional trader but I know a lot of people here are. So I hope they notice your post and maybe reach out to you about it. Just in case, though, what can you offer to the professional trader if they ever agree to teach you?

Hi Joebear45,

Use the search magnifying glass and search for “mentor” and read those 50+ posts on the topic. Your first post reads like “I want, I want, I want”, so I expect few positive responses. Please read the posts on “mentor”, then ask yourself "what do I have to offer a busy professional trader in return for honest guidance or mentorship?

As an example, I became friendly with a very young trader (whose father was an accountant) who I met on a property investment forum twelve years ago, and I wished to pick his brains to find out how his 80% successful trading record was achieved. He (John) was “effectively” unemployed and had few funds, but aspired to being a contractor project manager. I had a large stream of income from a recently acquired property portfolio, but did not have the time to consolidate it into fewer letting agents. I was in full time contracted project management. So I hired John on a self employed basis at an agreed 20 hours per week and gave him six months to analyze our portfolio, write a Terms of Reference for how I wanted that portfolio to be (in relation to tenant, agent, council and external stakeholder quality) and to implement a plan to achieve my objectives under my leadership. At the same time, I agreed to mentor him in leveraged property investment whilst he mentored me in his Forex strategies and plans. We spent about 6 hours per week together on delivering the “property quality project” and about four hours per week together on Forex matters.

Wind forward 10 years and John has achieved all he wished for (and more) and is a Google executive. I have had the benefits on dealing with ONLY two letting agents for the past decade, and would not change them ever. They were chosen on the basis of a quality plan to which they signed up - authored by John.

You see - without the me, me, me approach, all things are possible. Find a need and fill it. A successful trader may just take you up on being your mentor, but your offering of something in return would need to be compelling for it to be worth his time. Few do this for philanthropy. Some do it for perceived future income. The smart ones will only do it when their benefit exceeds the commitment they give to you as a mentor.

Thank-you for the responses. I am not really sure what I can offer. That’s a very good question to ask. I need to spend time figuring out what that would be.

The truth of the matter is Professional traders don’t take their time to “teach” or “mentor”, Their time is already reserved to either trading, to continuous learning, for their own free time or for their families. So they don’t “have time” or don’t “waste time” to teach/ mentor others. They already make enough money so they don’t have to or most likely “want to” give our their time.

Anyone whose ever take their time to mentor either from YouTube or websites/ paid courses are half-a**ing it. Their income from trading is not enough for them so they find other ways to make some more, That’s where the “mentors” come into scene.

In very very rare cases there are some traders who are truly successful and want to share their knowledge but they do it very very limitedly and most likely for their own country or even for the community around them, They don’t post YouTube videos or make websites it’s purely spread from one person to another and happen secretly. Try to find if there’s anyone like that in your local community.

Another way you can find a truly successful trader to guide you is that person being a close friend or family of yours.

Other than these two ways you will no find a professional trader that is willing to help you. So what is our option? All we can do is Gather all the knowledge that is already put out their by half-a**ers and analyze them by ourselves and filter out what is necessary for us.

Good Luck!

Good point. Maybe finding a trading-meetup in my local area will yield results.

If someone is trading really well and making lots of $$$, what is the incentive for them to hang around places like this forum talking to new traders? Most will probably be trying to make even more money or maybe spending it, who knows.

I posted a question here once asking if traders are mostly introverted or extroverted and a whole bunch of answers came in to say they’re introverted soooo meetups might be a challenging place to find them. I’d say Twitter - that’s where I feel most talented (but grumpy) introverts hang out lol.

I would disagree with this as there are plenty of professional traders that make themselves available to others. It’s not like you trade non stop for 15 hrs a day. In fact most traders have a lot of down time and have a passion for discussing the markets. It’s good to be sceptical, but with a little research you can weed out the bad seeds.

Why not the education segment here at babypips rather than the mentor? Believe me you’ll thank me later.

Hi, thank-you very much for the wealth of responses. I’m still working very hard to learn as much as possible about my currency. I have studied more courses I have found, some lessor known sources, so I hope that is good. I have recently discovered an amazing nugget on my own by going through the charts… I still struggle to be a profitable trader, but I hope to make it someday. Any feedback/ideas/help is greatly appreciated as well. Thanks

In response to what I can offer, I have a very logical mindset. I’m a software engineer and I feel I’m a good human. As to how I can leverage these talents, I am not quite sure lol but definitely a good question for sure!

Thank-you. This looks good.

I suppose you’re right. I have seen really kind and helpful members here who I THINK are successful traders.

That’s awesome! Backend or frontend?

Both ends, I hope. I had this flash vision of a pantomime horse remonstrating “not a software engineer”.

Both  More front end
