In a situation where I have USD against CHF i.eUSDCHF.
And, I understand that CHF is to go short i…e CHF is to sell.Am I going to open buy for the USD or Sell for CHF in order to trade.

We say that you are “buying” the USD but that’s really just a way to make it easy to understand what happens to your trade after it is opened.
What you are really doing is placing a bet that the exchange rate between the USD and the CHF will rise. If the rate does rise, this is parallel to the experience of owning USD which is rising in value, because now one USD will buy more CHF, so your dollars are becoming worth more.
So we’re only taking about one trade here, “buy” the USD/CHF exchange rate.
