Hopefully this is in the right thread, but I am having trouble downloading and using custom mt4 indicators I find on forums and such. I am able to download them and place them in my experts/indicators folder under MetaTrader but when I open the platform I don’t see the indicator listed. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Usually whenever you open the platform, MT4 will convert (compile) any .mq4 files into ex4 files because it’s the .ex4 files that are listed in the Navigator sidebar window. That it’s not doing that is strange…are you sure they’re not a zipped file of some kind? MT4 can’t convert .zip, .rar, .txt, etc files…make sure they end in .mq4

I downloaded an MLQ4 zip file, and used B1Archiver to open it into the Indicators
directory in MT4.
When I open MT4, the file does not appear in the Indicator directory. However, It is displayed in the MT4 Editor
I’ve been stumbling around with this for a while and would really appreciate any sugestions.

I also converted the zip file to a .mq4 in my Downloads folder but so far can’t get into MT4 Indicators folder.
If the editor is opening it up, hit the “compile” button.
Then go look.
And sometimes, even after compiling, it will just stay in the “experts” folder, but not be in the “indicators” folder.
Go to “My Computer”, find you MT4 platform, open the “experts” file, find and drag the missing indicator into the “indicators” folder. Restart MT4, and look again.
Also,
They wont be in MT4 under indicator.
They will be under “Custom Indicators”

I have an even bigger problem with my custom indicators. I opened a new account with GKFX and the MT4 platform that I downloaded from them doesn’t have the folders “Expert/Indicators”. I have worked with many different MT4 platforms from other brokers but I never encountered this problem. The folder “Indicators” is in one folder names MQL4. I put my custom indicator there, but I can’t see them on the platform… Can someone give me a solution to this problem?

I was having same problem, I dropped indicator in expert/indicator and didn’t see it. then I closed the custom indicator and reopened it and indicator was there. If you can’t figure it out, go bakc to the community and ask in their forum, they’re usually pretty quick
I have not faced any problem in downloading or using MT4. It is very easy to work with this plat form ,just download from any broker,s site you can work with demo or real account n mt4 It is a good way to be aware with broker spread and all trading conditions.
