Real Accounts, entirely different and hard to make gains?

Hi,

I’ve posted a similar idea on my broker’s forum and seeing it’s not appearing over there I thought I might find some help here.

Basically I’ve used a demo account and traded also using my experience in the stock market, made some gains and opened a Micro Account with FXCM.

What really surprises me is the following:

I have the price chart set up at .0010’s intervals (for example at EUR/USD it’s 1.2960… 1.2970… 1.2980 and so on, each box is .0010)
I’ve entered a trade and it went against me ONE box and I have -30 P/L. Then, I’ve waited and it went THREE boxes in the opposite direction from the entry mark, and I’ve gained only 20 P/L. Did I do something wrong or is it really that hard to make some gains with a Real account?

It’s so much different than the Demo account, if it went three boxes on a demo, you’d have some real gains on your hand…

It looks to me like your problem is a spread increase. Perhaps you were trading during news time and didn’t realize the spread had gone up?

Interesting post, I use a demo on FXCM and I asked the representative if the live platform was the same, and they said it was…I am thinking of opening a micro account with them and want to know if it is high quality…
