In my search for systems to work around my work schedule, I’d recently been looking for Set and forget strategies. I’d very much appreciate any advice/suggestion & details regarding any suitable strategies…
my daily hi low is set and forget but it’s not a well developed system, just a work in process so don’t bet the mortgage on it. It’s profitable so far but just barely. My problem, Sleeping though London open and working a day job during New York session. Good luck.
I’ve searched for set and forget and there isn’t one that works.
In my opinion you can’t just set rules and then live off them, you have to be a discretionary trader and look at the whole picture before certain trades.
I do have trades though where I enter them and then leave after setting a TP and SL.
My problem is the lack of time - by the time I get home the markets usually close, so a set & forget strategy will be the most effective solution, at this point in time anyway.
I do know what you mean about the room for discretion. That is how I usually trade - but the difficulty in the form of limited time does make things harder…
For what it’s worth, my opinion is when we can’t be in front of the screens monitoring the market strats like Mastergunner99’s on the Price Action Hero thread might be the way to go. Strats that use pending orders following the price action of the 4H and daily charts. Looking for more multi-day swing trades instead of daily/intraday.
I’m self-employed and a lot of days I have the time to monitor the market so I mostly day/ intraday trade. But at the same time I’m always looking for set-it-&-forget-it methods where I don’t have to get up in the middle of the night for the london open. After trading FX for a year and a half I have yet to see any daily/intaday set-it-&-forget-it methods that seem to constantly prove high profitability.
But I have seen some successful swing and trend trading multi-day strats that can be traded using pending orders. If you get a chance take a look at the early posts on Mastergunner99’s thread. And look at the charts Muthu has been posting, some good stuff.
Weird concidence d-pip that you mentioned MG99’s post on price action, I was looking at that post this very morning. I’m going to read that whole thread, it certainly looks very interesting.
Any pointers on the swing and trend trading multi-day strats you mentioned? It’d be quite interesting to explore the use of pending orders with such strategies…
Hello, I trade also as Fire And Forget (I just now noticed that its called “Set n forget” meaning that im new to FX trading)
I trade 0.01 Lots with 10 pip TP (EURUSD, when london market opens, M15 timeframe, Macd + stoch + rsi) and its always giving me profit in 2-3 hours, average 6 hours, and the longer I have wait to Take profit was about a month. But all in all if you have big deposit, and know how to set SL (because I do not SL) its a non stress method.
Tested all the summer, honestly, never negatively closed order or margin call
