Slow and Fast moving Average: Kindly Help

Below is the reply I got for moving average 5 and 10

You might want to try using exponential MAs! They remove some whiplash and prove more reliable on lower TFs

Now is the question

 1. What is TFs?

 2. In trading moving average cross over, Can I use simple MA period 5 and exponential MA with a higher period?

TF = time frame (1 minute, 5 minutes, etc)

Of course you can, whether or not it will make any money is for you to find out. Sorry if that’s not a very helpful answer, but you can always backtest these strategies yourself right?

If you want a quick answer, personally I don’t think any MA crossover system will produce you profits. MAs are useful for some things, but picking entries and exits is not one of them. My advice is to look back over the charts and see for yourself, remember you have to buy in at the market price where the MAs cross! You’ll find quite the delay I’m sure :frowning:

Cross over can be traded sucessfully but you can just trade a cross over and think it will be profitable. If price bounces off support and then you get a cross over that will be a higher probability but even then its not very hing. MA work better as a area of support and resistance than entry and exit strategy. But there are some systems that are based around crossovers and I am sure some of them work but just not very well for me.
