Ea hasn’t been doing well the last week or so (hotforex currenex). Down about 8% last week.

The breakout hunter has been the main culprit. These wild moves on the euro wouldn’t be doing it much good!

I’m just trying to make sense of this. The numbers I’m using are the ones you provided. You said your net return was 39.75% or 985 pips. I’m a little confused because when I make 980 pips on my EUR/USD trades, I make a 350% return. You turned $100 into $815, just to make sure I’m not crazy thats a total 715% return. Please let me know if I am way off, or missing something.

Okay just to be clear that total is my test account running smartfx, WFSR, MDP and includes rebates from hotforex which I reinvest and than receive a bonus on.

Sorry if that is misleading. I have been posting all of my numbers directly from myfxbook and I have posted all my percent gains per pair since September. Those numbers represent the actual gain from these ea’s by themselves.

**Again I want to reiterate that the percent gains are out of wack do to the fact that my test account is so tiny that it traded the minimum lot size for a while which in all practicality was to much risk. However the win rates the net total pips the pf would remain accurate no matter what size account.

Am stopping this EA for a while. It’s been absolutely shocking in the last week or so.

Gazlim,

When you say shocking is that good or bad results?

Would have to be bad, which is why he is stopping it.

Hi Gazlim,
The week has been quiet, gone pretty much nowhere, but if you had losses maybe I should look at your settings. Please email me or chat me at the website and we can do a remote assistance session at your convenience, just to make sure…

Robert. The settings are default. Nothing has been changed. Just attach the Ea to the chart and hit OK. you’ve checked settings on my setup in the past.

When I say this week, I mean the last 2 weeks.

Smart FX Master Scalper and Breakout Hunter System | Myfxbook

At the moment some of the scalpers are working great while the breakout hunter has been hitting the SL consistantly.

I’ve stopped the EA for now so I’ll wait and see how the others fare before considering starting it up again.

Profits tend to come in waves sometimes. If you stop the EAs, you may be missing the good weeks.

Combo Pack - Started trading on Oct.4th, 2011,

Since the Real Account just started, I am posting the older demo tests.
They run each EA independently and show several months of trading.

Breakout Hunter, started in April 2011. Updated to version 7 on Oct. 4th.

Master Scalper, started in August 2011, started with release of the previous update. Also updated to version 7 on Oct. 4th.

Hi Sudacan,
I checked it out. With minor exceptions it is trading the same as our real account. Today you had one more SL than we did, just a bit of bad luck.
I went back several days in your account and found no important discrepancies. That amount of broker difference is not too bad. Is this an ECN account?
So today was lousy. Hopefully tomorrow will be great, we’ll see.
One point you may want to look into: because you are trading 100:1, your trades are proportionately twice as large as the default settings (50:1). That is not too much, but it is higher risk than the recommended. Perhaps you want to cut those numbers in half, so the drawdown in bad days is less severe, and you can recover faster when the normal (good) days come in.

Here is what I infer from these numbers First off these ea’s are still very much positve. Second I took only 2 weeks of October, If I were to add all of October these numbers would be even better. Third a main component of these ea’s is that they work together and when one does poorly the other one’s performance makes up for it. That has always been the idea. When breakout hunter struggles scalpers do well. In the future when scalpers struggle breakout hunter will be what keeps us alive.

You have to look at the big picture and you have to be patient. You can’t say ow this week sucked I will shut down the ea’s you will never succeed that way. Honestly I’ve been there. Either you have confidence in the ea’s or not. If I was you I would limit the risk on breakout hunter to 1% and leave it running. This is just my two cents for what it’s worth.

What happens next week if the scalpers start to struggle and break out hunter starts to do well again? You would end up losing even more of your hard earned equity.

Now I showed you the numbers from October 10 until the present. What happens when I total all of October. Lets see…

eur/usd 76 total trades, -192.9 pips 61.5% win rate -2.96% equity loss pf .85
eur/chf 70 total trades +238.9 pips 94% win rate +4.14% equity gain pf 2.88
eur/aud 159 total trades +779.5 pips 82.5% win rate +17.17 equity gain pf 2.5
usd/jpy 40 total trades +128 pips 65% win rate +6.24 equity gain pf 1.54
eur/cad 90 total trades +610.2 pips win rate 89.5% equity gain +12.7% pf 1.79
eur/gbp 61 total trades +232.1 pips win rate 90.5% equity gain +11.37% pf 3.65

breakout hunter totals 76 total trades -192.9 pips 61.5% win rate -2.96 equity loss pf .85
scalper totals 420 total trades +1988.7 pips 85% win rate +62.71% equity gain pf 2.21

totals for all of October 496 total trades +1795.8 pips 81.5% win rate +87.89% equity gain pf 1.5

If you look at the bigger picture you can see that break out hunter is not doing that bad and the scalpers are consistant. No matter how you look at it these ea’s are solid and if you just look at a bigger sampleing of trades instead of just a week or two weeks or two trades in a row or whatever you can get a better idea of how they are doing.

Robert i wonder if this ea has some sort of a safe exit strategy like Trailing Stop ?
any suggestion ?
do i have to do it manually in my MT4?
or i should buy a separate ea for this?
or it will be in the next update?
or it’s already included in the ea !

thanx

hi johnny
im sorry man but you cant ask people to be patient when they have only 30 days to try the product !
either they are satisfied with the result so they keep the product or they aren’t so they return it for their money back .

Right

Hey all,

First time poster, long time lurker. I purchased the combo pack last night. After install, I have activated EA, and attached to chart as per instructions. I see a smiley face in the top right side, but failed to make any trades after 10hours. I have a feeling something is not right in the screenshot below. Should these EA listings be greyed out? Thanks in advance!

UPDATE: received a quick reply to my email. This is normal operation, it started trading a few hours ago on its own. Up so far, I have very conservative settings on a live account. I will give feedback as time goes by.

It surprises me that people are considering giving up with these EAs. While I haven’t gone live with the EAs yet, the demo account I started on 19th October is showing a $144 (or 2.8%) profit on a $5k initial deposit after 4 working days, 3 working days actually, as I switched off accidentally last Thursday :).

Breakout hunter is working at approx $160 won, $155 lost, so the majority of my winnings are from the scalpers. I’m wondering if the success of EAs in general can be down to latency between VPS and host server in some way, although I have no understanding of why that would be. Please correct me if I am wide of the mark in this assumption.

Having the breakout hunter lose as often as win can be a little frustrating though - this thing would fly if BH didn’t give as much as it received, although I appreciate that the current market is pretty scary.

Time for a big dumb question, the implications of which I don’t fully understand, I feel :).

Is there any logic in the system that can stop the trade before it hits the stop level if things are going badly ?

If there was something in there that (forgive me, I’m new here, but…) analysed the trend since the trade was placed and jumped out of the trade if it looks likely to lose, then maybe you could turn a 50 dollar loss into a 30, or 20 dollar one, and this might scare those newer to forex less. If BH had jumped at the 30 dollar loss mark on my demo losing trades instead of the 50 dollar mark on my demo trades, I’d be another 60 dollars up, and would feel more comfortable with BH.

(big dumb question number 2 coming up…) Maybe something could be done by reversing the scalping logic ? e.g., if the conditions are right for a “scalp sell”, when the ea is in the middle of a “buy” trade, and you’re already down, then the EA would “quit while less behind” and would close the trade ? I’m kind of hoping that the same process you guys went through to work out the stop levels might also show up patterns that the EA should walk away from ?

If this is achievable, maybe you could make it an optional extra for the ultra-cautious, or add it to the risk management settings ?
