Some questions

Hi guys, I am new to forex trading but I have been trying to learn as much as I can. I have a few questions that I would love to get answered to help further my understanding.

  1. Since some markets close at a specific time (e.g. London market is active 8GMT - 16GMT), how are we still able to trade in those markets outside of those stated hours?
  2. I’m using the MT4 platform. How do I know which broker to choose and their time zones?
  3. If anyone is using mac, what is a trading platform I can use without running windows?

Thanks!

  1. As one market shuts, another market opens. Trading does not take place from a central exchange, it is spread over several different markets. If you place a trade when one market is shut, it will get passed through a market that is open.
  2. Research out the top brokers in your country of residence, the best brokers will usually know your countries regulations very well, and so be able to provide you with good customer service. A simple google search will get you on your way.
  3. MT4 will run on a mac, with a few limitations, although these can be worked around. Other brokers will have their own “log in” software specific to them.

Hey Jezzode, awesome, thank you for that!

There is Babypips School for all basic queries. A new trader mush visit it. I hope, it will be helpful for you as well.

Your broker does not have to be in your time zone. FX markets are basically open 24/5. Instead of focusing on your time zone you may want to place more attention to finding a broker that offers you the most. You will get the MT4 from every broker, but requotes, slippage and order execution are things you may want to consider. I can recommend PaxForex to you. They also process deposits/withdrawals very fast.
