Something weird happened today

Hi guys,
I would like to share something weird that happened today.
Below is a screen shot of a trade that I took 10 mins back. I took it on the 5M chart and to the left of it is a renko chart that I sometimes like to look at.

See the long sequence of alternate bricks? That happened in just 1-2 mins during the candle marked by red arrow. The price moved 4 pips up-down up-down almost 60-100 times! Also the spreads widened from 0.5pips to 1.5 pips! I mostly trade the 5M chart means I have high screen time. But I have never witnessed anything like this in the past few months.

Has this happened to anyone else here? Is this normal or is my broker fluctuating price rapidly to run stops?

Please let me know.
PS: actual entry is at the short red horizontal line. But it got placed a few pips higher because of slippage. Gave me a benefit of few pips :stuck_out_tongue:

BTW time is around 8.19AM (GMT +2).
I have saved the chart as .csv and attached it too so you can compare easily and see if it happened to you too.
Please see row 20116 onwards…

EDIT: attachment quality is low so attached a zip instead.

I got that also on FXCM (UK) GMT+1. What broker do you use ? You didn’t say, or I missed it.
Edit: I guess it’s MTrading, judging by the chart logo.

I did not loo at your attachments as I don’t download files, but wanted to comment on the increase in spreads. An increase form 0.5 pips to 1.5 pips is something that can occur due to an economic news releases or spike in trading and if it does not happen on a regular base then I would not be concerned over it. Often there is a backlog of orders from Friday night which will be filled Monday morning and all that depends on your broker and the ability to fill orders. There could be a number fo reasons why you witnessed that.

Yes, Mtrading. It is based in Estonia.
And its good to know that I’m not the only one who got that.

I have seen spreads go as high as 2.5 during news release. But There was no news release at that time therefore I was surprised. Maybe it was just increased volatility.
