Stop hunting happens largely at the inter-bank level, the prices of which feed through to the brokers and ECNs and thus stops at that level get popped as well too.
What kind of trader gets stophunted?
Is it the trader who sets his stoploss to close to the actual price?
Stops (and limits for that matter) which are within reach of the current market level are always at risk. They need not have been set too close initially. It may just be that the market moved sufficiently close to them to encourage the order hunting.
Which is why I use an EA that monitors for stoploss, takeprofit, and breakeven, it doesn’t put the orders in ahead of time, so there is nothing to hunt.
