Stripping fx trading down to the bear(pun intended!)bones

i have been reading lots on this forum and i have seen repeated by many respected people on these very boards that one must find a trading style that fits your own psychology/mentality.

so, during my research thus far i have decided for myself that i want to learn the real basics of forex. in everything i do i love to get to the underlying basics and for me, candlesticks and price action are as basic as it gets so i am stripping everything back(i.e indicators!). i see this insight as fundamental for me in understanding how to read my markets.

my thinking behind this approach is that you wouldn’t (and shouldn’t) paint a door without stripping it back to the naked wood, and it is the same, imo, with forex.
and once i have grasped these concepts then i may look at using indicators to ‘colour my door’. in the meantime i want to keep things as simple as possible.

what i would like to know is which books/dvds/courses do you guys recommend and who should i look to(is there anyone other than nison who produces good candle info??) to develop my understanding in the fundamental areas of price action and candlesticks?

cheers

Just to get you started.

thanks for the reply graviton, i will delve into this material, looks interesting. are you using this yourself?

I use just about everything when I trade, except Elliot Waves. I never could make sense out of those. But in the end, I take no ones claims to heart without backtesting and/or trying them in demo for myself. Each trader is different. Each trader must find her or his own path. If you find your path follows another’s, so be it. That just never worked for me. Look at this as something that can sometimes give you a sign post along the way. It’s not a destination, just a tool to use along your journey. There are many such tools. Money management is one of the most important. You should be familiar with those tools that seem to help you. Forget the rest.

Happy Trading
