Synthetic pairs

Anyone had any actual success trading synthetic pairs in the last year?

How did you identify you needed to synthesise and trade that particular pair?

whats meaning of Synthetic pairs?

Synthetic pair is using two trades with one common currency, long and short, leaving two other currencies as a pair that the broker does not offer. e.g. Long USD/RUB and Short USD/MXN would be in effect Long MXN/RUB as the USD components cancel each other out. I doubt any broker offers MXN/RUB.

Looked at this earlier today but I’m keen to know if anyone actually uses or has used synthetic pair trading.

There’s plenty of mention on the web of this as a concept but absolutely nothing as an actual experience.

ok
Me and a friend of mine use Synthetics
he uses synthetic pairs very commonly,

Me… I use them on occasion , but we also have different trading styles

Synthetics are very profitable for him
they are also doing well for me, but i focus more on indexes

anyway… beyond this, i don’t really want to get into a big discussion on synthetics because it can go on forever

i just responded so that you would know that there are people out there that have success with synthetics
and honestly,
i’m suprised that more have not replied

be cool

the definition of SYNTHESIS is…
1.
the combination of components or elements to form a connected whole.

a Synthetic pair is when you combine multiple currency pairs to form A NEW PAIR called a
SYNTHETIC PAIR
look at it like a FAKE CURRENCY PAIR

but this new pair has value
it can give you an average price of the other pairs

if you have a synthetic made up of 5 currency pairs, it means that when you trade off that synthetic you are trading off the average price of the 5 pairs

they can be useful depending on your trading style

does that help you understand it

it’s a sort of FRANKENSTEIN’S MONSTER PAIR if you will
