Tell me one thing I should know

So I’ve been lurking here for awhile, but today I made my account.

I’ve found you guys to be an amazing and insightful resource, so first, I would like to thank you all for that! Second, I would like you to post the one thing you wish you knew before trading in the Forex market.

A little about myself… I’m finishing my junior year at the University of Maryland, College Park (Go Terps) studying Economics and minoring in Technology Entrepreneurship. I’ve spent the past 3 years paper trading stocks and, basically, i’m sick of play money. I trade heavily on technicals (go figure) and have managed to make some significant returns in the US equities market. Some months ago I started learning about the Forex market and it got me really interested, especially due to high leverage and strong technicals. I figured it was about time to put some real money on the line, opening an account with a $1000 principal and seeing what I can really do. Only time will tell what will become of that $1000. If you have any questions, I would love to answer them.

Again, I would like to know one thing that you learned after entering the market that you wish you’d known beforehand.

Happy trading,

Lyndonc

hi happy to meet u, im also new here, u can learn from your mistakes, what i wish to tell you that what i know after entering the markets, do not over trade, dont place stoploss veryclose to your entry level, and also dont trade in news release times, thats all i learned and will know more in future. thanks

Well, good luck to you $1,000. is a decent amount to get you feet wet. When i started , i started with a pip value of .01 until i got the understanding of it. You know that money management is one of the key components of being successful.
