Which was your favorite flick?
I’ve not seen the “newest” Spiderman yet but personally, I was seriously unimpressed with The Dark Knight Rises. Don’t get me wrong, it was good but it was nothing special - it was majorly over-hyped.
Personally I get kind of sick of the constant Hollywood fascination with ‘reboots’, indeed now they’re even starting to reboot their reboots. So I didn’t watch the new Spiderman as they have dropped Tobey Maguire and have rewritten the origin bit differently from how it was done in the first Maguire film. Plus the new suit looks like it was just rubber animation. So I didn’t watch the new Spiderman film as a one-man protest at Hollywood taking us for granted. And don’t even get me going on the Renner Bourne film lol.
I liked the new Batman film, I tend to like all of Nolan’s stuff, but I felt as though because he and Bale had said that it would be their final film (neither of them is prolific enough to want to be tied up beyond that) the studio had them cram enough plot for at least two films into just the one film. I really liked it, but would have preferred it to be cut in two.
Bourne - it was a monstrosity of a follow up. How could they go so wrong with it?
I wanted to see the new Spiderman, I just never got round to it when it was in the cinema. I thought that it looked really good but I didn’t understand the need to relaunch the franchise when the Toby Maguire one wasn’t that old & in my opinion, it wasn’t that bad either so why remake it?
I watched the new Total Recall the other night, it was quite good. The CGI etc is pretty impressive.
Well, in TDKR’s defence I felt that it was a really big movie but Spiderman left me on a high. Maybe it was the 3d effect that came out so good. Granted it wasn’t an overly impressive storyline I felt it’s presentation was excellent.
I’m a big movie person, I go to the cinema quite a lot & I will genuinely watch pretty much anything. I watch trailers & come out with things like, “It doesn’t look that good… but I’ll watch that anyway”.
I work a 5-4-5 shift pattern so one fortnight I’ll work 10/14 days but the next (the good shift) I’ll only work 4/14 days so I spend a lot of time watching films. I don’t really watch any tv but films is another story; if I’m not sitting watching a film then I can’t sit still & I’ve got to be out doing something.
Yeah, movies rule! I prefer watching a movie that’s really engaging, entertaining and well thought out. I actually check out a movie’s rating on IMdb before watching it so that by the time it ends I won’t be like “what a waste of time”. However, there’re some cool movies out there with a low rating such as adjustment bureau, so yeah, sometimes I just risk it.
IMDB - the most used app on my phone.
I just watched Dredd tonight, it was alright. Through out the entire film, the guy in the lead role NEVER removes his helmet so you only ever see his nose & mouth. They liked their gore & slow-mo scenes though.
I wasn’t impressed with the trailer but it was one of those “I want to see it anyway” films & I would say (having since viewed it), it is in fact worth a watch.
Bond & The Hobbit are looking superb! I’m pretty sure that Taken 2 is going to be the movie of the year for me though.
I watched Avengers Assemble 3 times at the cinema (once with the Outlaws & then again with 2 different groups of mates) & what arrives through the door this morning from LoveFilm…
I’ve only seen Avatar the once but for a long time now, I’ve been fancying watching it again. We moved house 2yrs ago & one of the conditions that I agreed with my better half (it was her idea to move) was that we got a new tv. It was actually Avatar that inspired me to get a 3D one so I’m rocking a 50" 3D Samsung with a Sony surround sound-system. Love it! I wanted bigger but was told otherwise by the trouser wearer in my house
The tv is only 2yrs old & it already majorly out-dated. When I go live with my trading, any mon£y made will be blown on stupid luxuries like replacing the tv (even though there’s nothing wrong with it).
Haha, that’s why we trade, to slurge. Speaking of movies, I’m yet to watch Dred. I’ll also go to play store and get the app you spoke about. Personally, the only movie I’m thinking about now is next year’s man of steel.
I’m looking forward to that too, everyone has got to love Superman! Only seen a teaser trailer for it, I’ll need to IMDB it & see if another trailer has been released.
I like the rubbishy horrors too, I want to see VHS & Sinister.
Just broke my wrist on Friday & got a screw put in it yesterday so I’ll now have about 6-weeks to enjoy some movies.
Movie junkie Sorry about your wrist though that must sting, get well soon. I got the IMdb App btw, it’s awesome; it’s so easy to watch trailers now even for old movies I’ve watched before.
It’s handy to have IMDB on your phone as once I recognise someone in a film, it bugs the life out of me until I know what I’ve seen them in before. And yeah, it’s good for the trailers too.
Wrist actually isn’t that sore: strapped it up & mountain biked for an hour after breaking it & only realised the extend when driving home (manual/stick gear changes were MEGA painful).
I’ve got a LoveFilm subscription but I think that I’ll need to go join my local BlockBusters as LF won’t be able to deliver the discs fast enough.
You guys might be interested in a film called Margin Call… slipped under the radar for a lot of people and i’m not sure it ended up getting a cinema release, but it has Kevin Spacey and a few others in, I really enjoyed it.
As for Spiderman and TDKR, i enjoyed both, I enjoyed TDKR more as i’m a huge Nolan and Bale fan and i really liked what he did with the franchise. I was quite pleased they got rid of Maguire he was great in 1 and 2 but 3 was appalling, I also appreciated them using some different comic book content for the story as it gave it a bit more of a fresh outlook, plus Andrew Garfield is a great lead.
I had never heard of the film but you’re right, it does have a fair few well known folk in it. I shall check be checking out “Margin Call”, here’s hoping that its the only one that I ever get.
Thanks for the recommendation Aesop20.
Ha, Margin calls suck baz1982. I’ll check out Margin Call. As for the previous Spidey franchise 2 was my favourite. I personally find Kirsten Dunst to be a babe.
Kirsten Dunst is really hot, some great scenes in Melancholia too haha.
Yeah i think being interested in trading, financial markets etc you’ll all like Margin Call, let me know if you do or don’t!
batman is much better by far
