A family member of mine has been researching the EURO crisis, and one of the things he found out was the underground trains that Greece has. Not only did taxpayers money pay for it, but user fees are paid on the “honour” system…so of course most consider it a “free-ride”! Then, the workers who maintain it are also paid very well.
This really burns me because here, in BC Canada, we have transit police…who will throw you off the buses or trains if you don’t have a ticket. The “government” company that runs our public transit system never has enough money to be sustainable so it keeps drumming up new “taxes” for us to pay. The newest attacks post secondary students by making them pay for a monthly bus pass even if they don’t need it…and if they don’t pay, then they don’t get to go to school!
