Total Newbie

So I’m a complete beginner here. I’ve stumbled on this site yesterday after the girlfriend told me to read up on candlestick graphs for her in my spare time. I’m now really curious as to the world of 4x trading. I was reading a few posts talking about running demo accounts for 6 months before going “live”. This seems like a long time to be practising although I’m sure it is worth it to avoid big losses.

Are people really making much money through this or is it more of a side hobby for people to make a few bucks? I’m in the middle of a doctorate in fish genetics so find a lot of the stats associated with this not too complicated (dare I say fun? hehe). Can anyone suggest any demo accounts or seminal works/articles that I should be reading to gain a greater understanding?

Regards,
Dave

Well it looks to me that studying fish genetics is allot more fun than this.

Hello Dave,

Highly recommend you to start things at babypips school first. Then you can go for DEMO and so on

Hi Dave

Since you are a newbie and want to read some articles on candle stick, you should visit this informative thread I am reading too besides making some trade:

Haha. Yeah it is great. Get to travel all through Asia and do a lot of interesting work. Still, pay is pretty low right now as am back to full time student.

Thanks dollareuro. There really is such an array of sites and material out there. Good to get some heads up on where to start. Appreciated.

I agree with the reading materials that the guys recommended above. I’d also like to add that you should also have fun with trading first. Being a numbers guy, I think you would easily like the probabilities game that is forex trading.

Good luck on your trading career!
