Trade forex or stock options?

I’m torn between learning to trade stock options or forex. Has anyone here traded both? If so, which do you prefer and why? Pros and cons? Which has more reliable trading systems? I lean towards options because of excellent trading platforms like thinkorswim and regulated markets here in the USA. Thanks for your perspectives and advice.

I trade both, and have done for years. You should make the decision based on which market best offers you the type of trading opportunity you would be after. There are very different considerations involved. Do you already trade stocks?

One big pro about the Forex Market is that it’s international. This can be a form of protection in a weak US Economy.

Why torn?
Why not do forex options trading then?
And you are comparing apples and
oranges. You cannot then say
stock market is more stable or
more regulated. It’s a moot point.
FX market is now poised to double
almost every year or two. It offers
more opportunity and liquidity.
That alone makes FX superior.
If options is your thing, do forex
options trading.

I haven’t traded options, but I have traded stocks since I was 18 (now 21), I just picked up forex this February but already I personally think it has a much higher rate of return. I would consider forex less risky than stock options, just because currencies aren’t likely to have enormous crashes, like stocks can easily have with just one lawsuit.

I agree with Yarcofin, forex is much simpler, safer and more lucrative than stock options (which I traded for about 2 years before moving to forex).

I wouldn’t touch stocks in these uncertain economic times.

Hey Yarcofin, I visited your blog, very nice, I will add it to my pages to visit regularly.
Just one thing … any way to make the type bigger or easier to read? Maybe not a black background? For those over 40 it’s a bit hard on the eyes

FYI, after closing my account with FXCM (NOT recommended as a broker!) I opened one with FX Solutions in May … it took me 4 hours to open AND fund it all online.
Their trading platform is awesome too. And they allow micro accounts which IMO are much safer for starting out with real money.

I started trading demo in November, live in February. Made the mistake of going with FXCM and doing a mini account instead of micro … but I am with the right broker and on track now
My demo account is en fuego but trading live takes some getting used to

If you (or anyone here) likes trading the guppy (GBP/JPY) aka the “Vegas pair” :D, come on over to GBP/JPY Equity Building thread under Holy Grails or also in the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo thread in Holy Grails, Swing Trading we also dissect the guppy there. Guppy filets served on Fridays.
