Trading after the closing hour?

From the school section of this website, I learned that the market is 24 hours open (although there are better times to trade than others).

However, from 22:00 Friday I can’t trade at all (demo account). I can limit or stop order, but I can’t trade on spot. I’ve tried this with three different (demo) accounts, but in all of them, I can only limit or stop order. Is this just a demo account’s limitation, or is this normal? Can’t you trade at all during weekends?

I think it’s because I cannot trade on weekends, but just wanted to make sure.

BTW, if it is because I can’t trade on weekends, is this the reason why there are always gaps between candlesticks? I saw that some candlesticks open above/below the previous closes. Also, there are time gaps between those candlesticks (12th right after the 9th. 10,11th not present)

I only started learning about a week ago. I am at Summer School at the moment, and I know that this question should sound extremely basic that some of you can’t believe it, but please be gentle

These are the times you can trade forex:

Forex market welcomes traders 24 hours a day.
Forex market opens on Sunday 5 pm EST (10:00 pm GMT), closes on Friday 5 pm EST
(10:00 pm GMT).

Hope this helps,
James
