I was just wondering and would like to look into broadening my scope a little. Are we allowed to trade commodities like oil, corn, gold, etc in the US with leverage? I would like to get into other markets besides Forex. How much start up capital would be required compared to Forex. If I start with $1000 in forex and trade 4% of my account per trade would a similar return be evident with commodities? Oanda only lets me trade currency pairs presumable because I am a US citizen. I did not realize we all of a sudden became more economically socialist than North Korea but I guess that is another topic of discussion.
I use OPTION***PRESS (Charles Schwab). It’s a little more involved than opening a FOREX account, but not really a problem. You can trade any listed commodity futures contract, commodity futures options, stock market shares and options on shares.
What is a good amount of capital to get started. I heard that leverage is now illegal in the states so I imagine you would need much more than $1000 to get started with this? Or am I misunderstanding the law with this?
