Trading Made me lose everything then gave it all back!

Well as a trader I always hated Psychology contents because they do not give you any useful information and they only tell you a hero-like story about how they first were killed by trading and then reincarnated by trading and became the spirit of vengeance lol. This topic is not one of them, I was not that rich to start with real money so I started trading with a demo account to learn my way first and then I could trade with a very small R/R little by little I enlarged my risk as my confidence grew. The topic is only a test to see how many views it gets me, as I checked usually such topics get a loooot of attention!

So your topic has a title, and the content admits it has nothing to do with the title. I don’t think you will be getting a lot of attention. I am asking for what purpose you want to get a lot of attention? Are you lonely?
There are other forums besides Forex trading that you can get a lot of attention on. This one is for members who genuinely want to trade Forex.

Psychology is actually a really important part of being a successful trader. I’m in the camp that believes if you don’t have a solid foundation in the way you approach trading mentally, you’re going to fail over and over again.

Hmmmm seriously, what’s all that attention for? Do people really buy into these fake stories?

Totally agree. Having the right mindset is crucial. Without it, you’re bound to struggle.

I didn’t start with a live account either, but I believe it has nothing to do with psychology. The logical move is to start with a demo account, practice a lot, and figure out your strategy before stepping into live trading. I don’t think real psychology involves hero-like stories; those are made-up by people who know nothing about psychology and just say nonsense about it. Real psychology is understanding that a journey of a thousand miles is all made up of small steps!

I have spent time for actually learning, rather than reading contents with no logics and only emotional stories. I strongly believe that the right way to win is to learn to do, rather than to learn to deal with failure!

This is perhaps the most solid approach that most Newbies should start with.

A demo acc gives the freedom to explore all the “what if” scenarios without costs; learn how markets behave; learn one’s trading comfort zone in terms of timeframes, risk exposure, etc; develop a strategy and choice of market(s) and so on.

But the key point here, IMO, is starting small and building carefully… and, as a result, building one’s confidence through seeing actual concrete results, so you can say: “I can do this”, "I’ve got this"!

Having said that, there is a psychological side. The key points are building an account slowly with small increments and sticking to the strategy rules regarding entry, exit, and risk size. But these demand patience and discipline.

So why is it that the vast majority of retail traders still fail… is it a failure in the core strategy construction or deviation from the rules due to lack of discipline - or both - or something entirely different…? :grimacing:

I believe the problem lies in the overall human mindset. Achieving success requires patience and discipline, which most people lack. Many people desire overnight success, and those who wait for it often lack consistency in their actions. Their moods and feelings affect their outcomes.

Absolutely, consistency is key. It’s about maintaining focus and commitment even when the journey is tough.

He has posted a lot. A ton. A ton of a lot. And it’s great stuff. You should actually read more of his stuff. He’s experienced a lot and shares a good amount of that with us.

He’s just making sure the OP is being genuine in creating the post, which is always good.

Yea, that’s a good way of looking at for sure.

I just know you can’t win all the time. You might not even win most of the time. So how will you respond when you lose. Because it will happen. Losing is such a big part of trading.

And humans are emotional. countless stories here about emotion taking over and resulting in a blown account.

Anyway, all the best in your trading.

this does not, by any means, mean that he can insult other people for what he just thinks! he aint even man enough to answer me! i rather keep a distance from such peoples posts i would never check

if you learn trading you will know that it is a part of trading. how is reading other peoples story about how broken they were, is gonna help you in trading?!

Hi @FranziskaSchulz, different people different culture.

I believe @Mondeoman has no such intention. He simply asked a question in a friendly manner. :innocent:

In some of my replies, I used the same context without intention to look down anyone. But, it’s good anyway, to express what we thoughts here, so BP users will get enrichment in how to communicate then the community can grow better. :innocent:

No, it doesn’t mean that, and that isn’t what happened.

You misunderstood, @FranziskaSchulz : you made a little mistake (it happens). You took @Mondeoman 's jocular, challengingly-friendly tone for an insult. It wasn’t at all.

Those of us who have had the pleasure of reading 50-60 of his posts here have deep respect for him, and for the value that he provides to the forum and its members (it’s pretty hard, actually, to think of a more valued or more widely respected member!!), and we understand that he intended no offense at all - far from it.

It’s ironic, actually, because out of all the “significant posters” here, almost nobody is actually LESS likely to insult anyone than Mondeoman.

My own guess is that he pretty quickly added you to his “ignore” list (and - dare I say - that he may not be the only member doing so).

That’s all you need to read.

Hey whatever works for you. Most of the stuff I’m reading on here is from somebody else’s experience anyway. Losing just happens to a lot of us. I’ve learned from many of them, losers and traders  .
