Trading Platform

Hi there guys,

Starting out as a newbie it can be quite overwhelming with all the trading platforms out there. I started with markets.com but that was a good starting point but expensive per pip. No i am on CMC spread betting, which I still don’t get if its better then CDF?

So the question is which is really the overall best platform and broker to start learning now so that when your a pro you still benefit?

Thanks guys.

Hello!
You can work with different brokers and try their demo accounts. No one will tell which platform is better cause it depends on your own preferences. Every platform has its pros and cons, read about them in the web. There are lots of comparing articles on this theme.

@shaunsmith100: Based on your trading style one platform will be more suitable for you than another. However, if you are just starting to trade maybe you should begin with the most used platform: MT4. Probably every broker supports it and there is also plenty of information about it on the internet.

I can agree with eyedfondue. MT4 is a great platform, especially for newbies. The MT5 is not a bad choice also as it is one of the most used platform as well. Of course it all depends on your goals and trading plan however be sure to explore all kinds of options before settling with one platform. Use the Demo accounts that different brokers offer for learning purposes. Good luck!

You know… I read not very good things about MT4 and MT5 on other forum, but they can be used by market makers only if a trader uses EAs.
I trade by hands, and moreover, my broker offers me MT4 only, but I find it comfortable for me. Though it’s the only platform I worked with. I learned to trade with this platform and I got used to it very much. Anyway, it would be interesting to try other platforms. But it seems to me that I should find some new broker that offers trading via, for example Ninja trader?

I use MT4 also

Many people who “recommend” MT4 have never tried anything else.

@lexys: I read the thread you referred to and there is quite an interesting discussion there with many pros and cons. For sure there are many platforms that are suited better for professional traders with specific needs. I recommended MT4 just because shaunsmith100 said he is a newbie not that I consider it as the best one. Maybe I should try Ninja Trader too
