I’m trying to understand why i would choose the XM Standard Account over the XM Low Spread Account. Spreads with the standard account are higher starting from 1.6pips vs XM Low Spread Account which starts from 0.8 pips.
Both have the same Minimum Deposit, Base Currencies…
The only difference as far as I can tell is the swaps…So the only reason to choose Standard account is for swap trading? Seems unlikely?
Swaps on Standard Account
Swaps on XM Low Spread Account
I asked XM live chat and I don’t think they have a clue…
Hi @Kingleviathan, about XM account’s type here are my experiences.
I have both of them. Please find if the regulation the same with your regions. As I know different region has different treatment.
XM Standard Account will have option to have credit bonus. XM Credit Bonus is really “helpful” on certain trading methodology. XM Ultra Low is not eligible to get Credit Bonus. If you have enough capital or backup margin, don’t bother to use XM Standard Account. Go straight to XM Ultra Low.
If you are fond of scalping (normal type), XM Ultra Low is a better option compare to XM Standard Account. I have run the same EA on both accounts, XM Ultra Low close order faster, due to low spread, compare to XM Standard Account, most of the time, but the different is not significant.
XM Standard Account has more slippages compare to XM Ultra Low. It can be an advantage or weaknesses. Some scenario XM Standard Account will perform better, some other XM Ultra Low is the winner. I don’t see which one is better, they are complementing each other for me.
My personal opinion, if you are scalping (manually), in particular XAU and USOIL, better to use XM Ultra Low. Scalper don’t have benefit from XM Credit Bonus, unless you are a full margin trader, that will be another story.
If you are no particular strategy, XM is considered a good broker to have. I’m using XM as part of my risk management to diversify broker. If you need credit bonus (please verify if XM provides it in your region), XM Standard Account is your choice. If you care a lot with your trading agility, XM Ultra Low is the best.
